Week 3,4,5 and 6 Progress

Designing

The fourth phase in the methodology process is the designing. In this phase, the design of this project is produced by study from the literature review. The software used is such as SolidWorks, SmartDraw or Express PCB. Designing is very important because it is the main part to developed this project .In designing, the dimension must be clear and accurate to avoid technical error in fabricating the project. In this project, there are two designs which are:

a)      Mechanical structure

b)      Electrical and electronic circuit

a)      Mechanical structure drawing using SolidWorks

b)      Electrical and electronic circuit using Express PCB

For the electrical and electronic circuit, it consists of designing the DC motor drive, transmitter and receiver for remote control, the power supply of RF Receiver, forward and reverses motor circuit and distance sensor circuit. For the designing of the mechanical structure, it consists of motor bracket, switch box holder, shaft, and remote control hook. The electrical and electronic design must be able to be integrated with the mechanical structures that have being design in order to make the project successful.

Procurement

The next phase in the methodology process is the procurement. This phase is made after the designing phase. When designing is done and approved, the next process is the purchasing of the component or material used in this project. The purchasing must be depending on the bill of material (B.O.M) to avoid the mistake.

Fabrication and Testing

The fifth phase in the methodology process is the fabrication and testing. Fabrication is very important to get the best project. If there is an error in fabrication, this project will fail and major improvement must be done. For this project, fabrication is divided to two; mechanical and electrical or electronic. To fabricate this project, some of the equipments and machines used are:

   Drilling machine

  Grinding machine

  Lathe machine

      Screw driver

   Soldering iron

 Power saw machine

          Sucker

   

After all the mechanical structure and circuit is completed, there should be a testing phase. In this phase, experiment is make to test the on the different surface such as smooth surface, rugged surface and uphill surface to determine the ability and performance of the project.

 Improvement or Modification

The sixth phase in the methodology process is improvement or modification. This phase is done after the testing phase. Improvement or modification can be made in either mechanical structure or electrical/electronic circuit. It can involve either major or minor improvement or modification. It also depends on the result of the testing.
